Position Title
Ph.D. Candidate in German
Yingwei Mu is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in German at the University of California, Davis. Her research moves across German Romanticism, Western esotericism, ecocriticism, and gender studies. Her dissertation explores Romantic visions of nature as sacred, mysterious, gendered, and vitally alive, alongside the poetic subjectivity and the interconnectedness of humans, nature, and the cosmos. Shaped by her cross-cultural experience, she is also drawn to encounters between Eastern and Western thought and to questions that resonate across differences of culture and gender. At the heart of her work is a curiosity about how we might truly see and understand difference while recognizing the deeper connections between ourselves, others, and the living world. Beyond academia, she practices astrology and cosmic numerology, helping others explore the patterns, possibilities, and meanings within their lives.
