Graduate Student in Nursing with D.E. in Feminist Theory and Research
Jacke Humphrey-Straub (she/her) is a white, able-bodied, working class, queer, non-binary femme. She is a PhD candidate at UC Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. Her dissertation is a rapid ethnographic study taking place in primary care clinics in the U.S. using mixed methods of observations, surveys, and interviews to examine providers’ attitudes and beliefs toward prescribing gender-affirming hormone therapy. Her research interests seek to create access to gender-affirming care in primary care settings across the U.S. She received her master’s degree in social work in 2012 and bachelor’s degree in social work in 2009 from CSU, Chico. She is adjunct faculty at CSU, Sacramento School of Social Work. Jacke identifies as an abolitionist social worker and has a strong devotion to racial justice and Black liberation. On her spare time, you can find Jacke reading a novel, going on bike rides with her partner, or taking her kids to the Farmer’s Market on the weekends.
