Nicholas Villarreal, (he/they) is a PhD student in Cultural Studies at the University of California, Davis; where he is also pursuing designated emphasis in both Feminist Theory and Research, and Science and Technology Studies. Nicholas holds a Master’s in Gender and Feminist Studies from SDSU and their areas of research are in Critical Disability Studies, Feminist Cultural Studies, Fat Studies, Queer of Color Critique, Critical Ethnic Studies, and Media and Literary Analysis. His current projects are working towards Critical Fat Disability Studies, intervening into both fields to consider the imperative work and connection of theorizing fatness and disability together. Nicholas imagines what a world and future would look like where othered bodies – disabled, fat, racialized, queered, were not only considered but desired to be there. This work comes from and is done through lived experience, praxis, and community kinship. His parents are an important and critical aspect of his life, research, and activism, and he loves them dearly. Nicholas deeply believes in radical joy, love, and imaginings.
