            Bio
Faith Blackhurst is a PhD candidate in Spanish and Portuguese studying contemporary Latin American literature. She holds a BA in Spanish Translation and MA in Hispanic Literature, both from Brigham Young University. Her research interests include domestic literature, maternal theory, the pregnant and/or nursing body, and food studies. Her dissertation, “The Nourishing Mother in Contemporary Mexican and Brazilian Narrative,” draws upon contemporary texts, films, and television series to theorize how the work of feeding the family is negotiated by women in profoundly sexualized, classed, and raced ways.
