Bio
Elyssa Fogleman is a PhD student in Sociology with a designated emphasis in Feminist Theory and Research. In 2016 she received her B.A. from James Madison University in Sociology and Psychology with a minor in Asian Studies. Her areas of interest include medical sociology (specifically mental health), comparative-historical methods, and gender. Her current project explores the unique way that depression manifested in Japan during the "Lost Decades," focusing on the gendered ways that distress is recognized.
