Bio

Brandon is a currently a graduate student in Sociology at UC Davis. Their research interests lie in the areas of transnational sociology; race/ethnicity; gender; homonationalism; and the impacts of globalization. Uniting social activism and scholarly research, Brandon has focused on connecting racial projects and queer categorization to new forms of social control. This is reflected in their current project on kinship, queerness, and race within the context of the Desi community in the Bay Area. This particular site of interest serves to highlight the confluence of identity politics, post-colonialism, and capitalism as a site for the modern emergence of universal bodies.
